CoreLogic released it’s monthly report recently, and the blaring headline was that home prices were down 7.4 percent compared to May of last year. Further, that decrease between May of 2010 and ’11 was even worse than the 6.7 percent decrease between April of last year and this year. But is that number as bad as it sounds?

So when will someone apply that simple, uniform delivery of information to resold homes? Well … now, apparently.

Community members who want to have a say in the next big project that Beaverton undertakes, tomorrow, Wednesday the 29th, is your day. That’s when the Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC) will convene to talk about a potential solution for the Fanno Creek Trail crossing at Hall Boulevard. One of Beaverton’s most used pedestrian and bicycle trails, there exists no direct route across five-lane Hall Boulevard for pedestrians and cyclists on the path, who have to essentially leave the trail to get to the closest crosswalk.

Life in Portland suburbs such as Beaverton—and really all of Washington County—can be great, what with the green landscapes, relative urban sprawl and beautiful homes and properties. And while the shopping and dining are quite often top-notch, just as often local small business-owners opt for the larger population of Portland, rather than setting up shop a few miles west. Well, Peter Kircher is not one of those owners, as he’s expanding his renowned Golden Valley Brewery and the new location will be in Beaverton.

Beaverton homeowners who are interested in switching to solar power but were afraid the deadline passed, worry not; you may still be able to make the switch and qualify for tax credits. The Solar Beaverton program has extended until August their deadline to receive discounted solar panels systems and be eligible for an Oregon tax credit.

Over a month ago, we shared the news that Walmart was eyeing upwards of 17 new locations in the Portland metro area. Some of those locations would be for their full-sized Walmart Superstores, but most would feature their smaller “Neighborhood Market” stores which at around 40,000 feet, carry everyday items and are positioned more as a Safeway or Albertson’s competitor. That size also means that, unlike superstores, Neighborhood Markets can easily fit into urban settings. And that’s exactly what Walmart is planning for the very near future in Portland.
